Short answer: we almost never reschedule for weather. Afternoon storms are just part of life in the Keys. They tend to blow through fast.
If rain is in the forecast, I’ll shift your session earlier in the day. Or I’ll flip the morning and evening timing, since afternoon thunderstorms are the most common pattern here. Weather is the one thing I can’t control as a Key West family photographer, so I plan around it instead of fighting it. I keep a close eye on the forecast in the days leading up to your session. A partly cloudy forecast is honestly one of the best signs I can get. Those clouds are usually what give us the best sunset color. The only real reason I’d reschedule is a hurricane or tropical storm sitting directly on top of us, and that’s rare enough it’s barely worth worrying about.
