In 2022, I had the pleasure of capturing Matt & Brittni’s magical wedding day at the Reach Resort in Key West. Just one year later they reached out again. This time they wanted to celebrate another major milestone in their marriage, their first baby! So it was time to plan their Magical Morning Maternity Session in Key West!
Preserving Their Memories
Brittni and Matt have always had a special connection to Key West. The vibrant tropical waters of the Florida Keys are among their favorite places to explore. So, when it came time to plan their anniversary and maternity shoot, Key West was the obvious choice.
This trip the couple decided to stay on a quieter side of the island close to Smathers Beach at the Hyatt Beachside .
We selected a picturesque spot along the shoreline of Smathers Beach, where the soft, golden light of the rising sun set the perfect dreamy backdrop. The tranquil waters and lush palm trees of the Keys created a serene and intimate atmosphere, ideal for capturing the love and excitement that Brittni and Matt share.
The Importance of Timing
Arriving early is essential to capturing those magical sunrise moments. The soft, diffused light creates a flattering glow, perfect for showcasing the beauty of motherhood. Aim to be there about an hour before sunrise to enjoy warm-up shots and fully embrace the tranquility of the morning.
As the sun rose, the temperature also started to rise so it was time to break out the swimsuits and enjoy the calm waters! Brittni & Matt got married in the Florida Keys so they knew how warm Key West can get, even at sunrise! I had the pleasure of documenting their wedding day so when Brittni reached out for me to capture her maternity portraits, I was THRILLED to hear their family was growing.

Brittni and Matt opted for a full-portrait session so that allowed for us to have plenty of time to take more candids and relaxed portraits on the island. The gentle breeze and the soothing sounds of the waves added to the calm and relaxed atmosphere, making the session both enjoyable and memorable.
